Introduction
The history of the "Sejm", the Polish national assembly, dates back to the 12th century. The seat of this parliament has been located in an adapted girls' school since 1919. During extension work in the 1920ies, the building received the plenary hall that has shaped public life until today. The building was renovated from 1949 to 1952, due to damage incurred during the Second World War, and several buildings were added to it.
